On the other side of our long, dark winter
Note: This is part 2 of this post series. Read Part 1, “Writing through a pandemic,” here. All the weeks and months of anxious mulling over the Ullr story hadn’t changed my mind about which party and which character I’d center it on. I still loved the opening lines, but I knew the happy-jolly fun romp tone was gone. And that was okay. I didn’t need to write a fun story. I just needed to write a story with a party in it. If there’s anything that I’ve learned as a writer, it’s that as a discovery writer, I need to trust my process. I’m not the type of person…

“Asking For It” released in WMG Holiday Spectacular
And another one, but this time, with much different feeling. My second story in WMG’s Holiday Spectacular — “Asking For It” — is out now, to subscribers only. You’ll get all of the previous released stories, as well as “Asking For It” and this season’s remaining stories — 35 in total — to keep. Thanks for your support, and I…

Kickstarter launches for WMG’s Holiday Spectacular 2019
When I first heard about an advent calendar full of fiction instead of chocolate, I thought it was SUCH a COOL idea … … that was, of course, after I had my moment of total freak-out with the daunting prospect of writing 3 short stories in one week. I didn’t manage to write three, but I did manage two stories that I’m incredibly proud of because both hit close to home for me, for vastly different reasons. They were selected to appear in WMG Publishing’s winter anthologies featuring Christmas and holiday stories from a wide of gamut of genres and backgrounds, all edited by award-winning author and editor Kristine Kathryn Rusch.

WINGS OF CHANGE dragon anthology takes flight
WINGS OF CHANGE released last week in the midst of an incredibly busy week for me — 9 days on the road visiting family and attending a workshop. Now that I’m home and able to take a breath, I’m so pleased to share that this collection of dragon-themed tales includes one of my stories! A Chinese zodiac-inspired tale, THE SOUL BY WHICH WE MEASURE OURS embellishes on why Dragon didn’t win the zodiac race. I loved writing this story because the tale of the zodiac race is one of the first stories I remember my mother telling me. She’s also superstitious and a devout believer in astrology and numerology, with…
